Empowering prosthetic care through innovation and self-reliance in Pakistan
Learn MoreShaikh Fazal Elahi Artificial Limbs Center has always been committed to providing the most advanced prosthetic technology to individuals with limb loss. Until recently, we relied entirely on imported prosthetic components from the United Kingdom, ensuring high-quality fittings for our patients. However, in recent months, we faced significant challenges due to disruptions in the supply chain. A shortage of imported parts created difficulties in timely fitting of prosthetic limbs, causing distress both for our staff and for the individuals awaiting prostheses.
This critical situation made it clear that relying solely on imports was no longer sustainable. There was an urgent need to develop a local solution — to manufacture prosthetic limb panels and parts within Pakistan. By doing so, we could not only ensure a steady and reliable supply of materials but also significantly reduce costs, thereby extending our services to a greater number of individuals who have lost limbs due to accidents or pathological conditions.
We began extensive research and made multiple attempts to develop prosthetic materials locally. Despite facing several setbacks and failures, we remained determined. After continuous effort and experimentation, we finally identified suitable materials that met the quality standards required for durable and functional prosthetics.
With the right material in hand, our next step was to find a local factory or manufacturing partner capable of producing these prosthetic parts according to our specifications. After thorough exploration and discussions with several manufacturers, we successfully partnered with a company willing to support this initiative.
This marks a significant milestone in our journey. By establishing a local manufacturing process for prosthetic components, Shaikh Fazal Elahi Artificial Limbs Center aims to make prosthetic care more accessible, affordable, and timely for the people of Pakistan. Our goal is to ensure that no individual with limb loss is left waiting due to shortages or delays. This initiative is not just about manufacturing parts — it's about restoring mobility, dignity, and hope to as many lives as possible.
